I’ve used NordVPN in Canada for a while, and it’s excellent. The Canadian servers are quick (no lag during hockey games), and I can access US Netflix and Sportsnet Now easily. It’s reasonably priced even in Canadian dollars and my ISP doesn’t bother me. Highly recommend NordVPN for Canadians!

Nord doesn’t provide ‘Advanced Browsing Protection’ on mobile.
I’m looking to find the best VPN for 2024, and this thread is super helpful. It’s crucial to stay updated with new VPNs and their features. Checking out a few options based on what I’ve read here, but I’m still on the lookout for the best fit for me in 2024.
In all honesty, owning your VPN offers limited upsides. You’re still linked to the IP the traffic originates from. It’s effective for getting past restricted networks or for remote use, but it’s poor for operational security unless you route your traffic through another VPN. If you’re just looking to enjoy out-of-market sports games, that’s another matter.
I’ve maintained subscriptions to both NordVPN and Surfshark for years. While NordVPN is a bit faster than Surfshark, I ultimately prefer Surfshark and have let my NordVPN subscription expire.
Mullvad has been my go-to; after trying all the big names, I’ve stuck with this one.
I’ve been a PIA customer for more than a year now, and I find it perfectly fine. I don’t heavily rely on it for VPN needs, but it works on my phone and Smart TV without issues. I haven’t used others, but as a light user, I believe they would be all right too.
@Corey
As a lightweight user, I agree it works well, but there have been recent privacy worries with its new ownership. Not sure I’d trust it for serious needs.
I’ve never faced issues with Nord, and I’ve used them for years.
Recently, I started using AirVPN since I need port forwarding, and it’s worked flawlessly until now. It’s also been great for streaming 4k content in Stremio, which surprised me.
Using NordVPN for quite some time now.
Proton remains a solid alternative if you’re considering additional services. For just about 7-8 euros monthly, you can access VPN, Mail, Storage, and Password Manager. It has a stellar reputation and is Swiss-based. If you want just a VPN, Nord is also an excellent option. You can make payments via crypto or even cash through the mail; it’s about $5 per month. I used that before switching to Proton.
I’m leaning towards ProtonVPN, but they disclosed user information to the Swiss government last month. Surfshark is based in the Netherlands, which is more secure legally.
I’m using Proton’s free version, but considering Surfshark since it’s just $1.99 now for Black Friday, and I’ve seen many on this forum recommending it.
Anyone have pointers on how to watch M6 France? My Browsec is decent, but I can’t access M6.
I use Nord on my personal devices, especially while traveling through public areas. I also use it for streaming live sports.
Proton VPN is solid for mobile and free. NordVPN is unbeatable for desktop users, since they provide the option to purchase monthly without any tricky contracts. Other ISPs should consider adopting such a business approach. I endorse both.
For those searching for the best VPN, I recommend NordVPN. They’ve been doing heavy marketing that not everyone is keen on, but their service delivers the most value. I won’t list every feature; just try the free trial and see for yourself!
Don’t fall for the hype of ExpressVPN either; they pay for a lot of promotion.
I can’t speak for the rest, but I often hear great things about ProtonVPN.
Mullvad is one of the best for privacy, despite having removed port forwarding recently.
