What is the Best VPN According to This Forum in 2024

Avoid free VPNs. Choose reliable services like ProtonVPN or NordVPN. Ensure your VPN provider frequently updates their IP address since streaming sites tend to block them.

I’ve used NordVPN in Canada for a while, and it’s fantastic. The Canadian servers are speedy (no lag during hockey games), and I can access US Netflix and Sportsnet Now easily. It’s also pretty affordable even in Canadian dollars. My ISP doesn’t mess with me. I strongly recommend NordVPN for Canadians!

Nord lacks ‘Advanced Browsing Protection’ for mobile users.

I’m working on finding the best VPN for 2024 and this forum thread has been super helpful. It’s crucial to stay updated with new VPNs and their features. I’m looking into a few options based on the recommendations here, but I’m still in search of the absolute best for me in 2024.

Having your own VPN doesn’t provide many benefits. You’re still associated with the originating IP address of the traffic. It’s useful for overcoming restricted networks or remote use, but it’s lousy for operational security, unless you route your traffic through another VPN. If your aim is to just watch out-of-market sports, that changes things.

I’ve kept NordVPN and Surfshark subscriptions for years now. Even though NordVPN is typically faster than Surfshark, I opt for Surfshark and have let my NordVPN subscription go.

Mullvad is the only one I’ve settled on after trying all big-name options.

I’ve been a PIA customer for over a year. It works fine for me; I don’t use it extensively for a VPN, but it’s functional for my phone and Smart TV. I haven’t tried others, but as a casual user, I’m sure they’d work just as well.

@Corey
As a casual user, I find it satisfactory too; however, recent concerns have emerged around its privacy due to ownership changes. I may not trust it for serious use.

I’ve had no problems with Nord and have used them for years.

Recently, I also started using AirVPN because I need port forwarding, and it’s worked really well. I didn’t expect it to handle streaming 4k media in Stremio so well!

Been using NordVPN for quite a while now.

If you’re keen on other services, Proton serves as a fantastic alternative. For 7-8 euros per month, you can access VPN, Mail, Storage, and a Password manager. It enjoys a solid reputation and is based in Switzerland. For just a VPN, NordVPN is also excellent. Payment options include crypto and cash via mail, sitting at around $5 each month. That was my choice before transitioning to Proton.

ProtonVPN is decent, but they turned over user data to the Swiss government last month. Go with Surfshark; they’re based in the Netherlands and legally bound from doing that.

I use Proton’s free plan but I’m thinking of switching to Surfshark now that it’s $1.99 a month during Black Friday. A lot of folks here have recommended it.

Windscribe is fantastic; their emails feel very personal. :robot:

Does anyone know how to watch M6 France? I have Browsec which is okay, but it can’t access M6.

I use Nord on my personal devices and especially when I travel through public places. I also use it for streaming live sports.

Proton VPN is solid for mobile and free. NordVPN is unbeatable for desktops because they allow monthly payments without annoying contracts. ISPs should adopt this business model. I endorse both.

For people searching for the best VPN, I’d recommend NordVPN. Though they’ve been heavily marketed and not everyone likes that, their service provides the most value. I won’t list out all the features here, just try the free trial and see for yourself.

ExpressVPN pays a lot for promotions. Don’t fall for the hype.
