I enjoy VPN memes from my so-called first world country that acts like a third world country regarding piracy.

Nice username (translation: thirsty for attention)

There are direct download sites for a reason.

Xtreme Download Manager works great for direct downloads. Slow download speed isn’t a problem. Just grab the link, set up a download queue, and configure it to shut off the PC after the download. Wake up to your favorite games :ok_hand:

@Galen
I really need help with making my PC shut down after downloads. I once watched an 8-hour download because the time always said 1 hour.

In the settings, you can check the option to automatically shut down the PC after downloads finish. You just need to find where to insert the download link. I generally don’t start downloads automatically, and I usually download at night to avoid bandwidth issues.

It’s worth checking out, especially if you don’t know how to do it. Stay away from gofile links, as they have limits on how much you can download before needing to refresh the link. They never work smoothly. Always use buzzheavier when you can.

@Galen
Can you recommend any sites like that?

Sure thing

I had a good experience with the recommended direct download sites there. Game bounty is cool if you can’t find your game on GoG or other platforms.

@Galen
Thanks!

Why isn’t fitgirl on the list? Isn’t she a direct download?

No, you use torrents with fitgirl. I had to for getting Mudrunner.

@Galen
I use a program called Don’tSleep, which keeps my laptop awake while downloading. It turns off when the downloads are done or you can set a timer.

If you want to save money but still stay safe, you could try a debrid service like real-debrid. It lets you download torrents as well as direct downloads privately.

Yeah, $10 for 3 months is likely cheaper than most good-quality VPNs and way faster.

I use real-debrid for streaming. How do I use it for other downloads? Do I just upload the .torrent file and it makes torrent downloading safe?

@Rudy
Go to their website and either pass it a magnet link or upload the .torrent file. They’ll download it from the seeders and give you a link for direct download.

Been torrenting solidly for 25 years. Never used a VPN and haven’t received a single letter.

In Germany, you’ll get a letter for just seeding one bit, lol.

Do they throttle heavily in Germany if you encrypt traffic with a VPN?

@Soren
You don’t need to. Speeds are already terrible. Latency can be iffy, but speeds aren’t much worse with a VPN.
