What is happening with Mullvad VPN these days

My ISP blocks using any Mullvad server unless I use a SOCKS5 proxy.

Are you still believing that UPnP forwards ports in Mullvad’s encrypted VPN tunnel? LOL.

Do you still not understand what I said? It appears so. Keep enjoying yourself though.

Let me ask you something: How does UPnP and NAT Port Mapping Protocol work together? I’ll wait.

@Teal
I’m not explaining NAT to someone who doesn’t even get how to set up a proxy.

Why even mention NAT? If changing the settings for either NAT or UPnP gives you access, YOU ARE NOT USING A VPN… PERIOD.

Everyone here knows port forwarding is DISABLED, REMOVED, GONE so stop spreading misinformation about UPnP, commonly known as (UNIVERSAL PORT FORWARDING). The latter is actually a security risk, making you look foolish.

When a VPN doesn’t allow port forwarding, it means you CANNOT directly expose specific services or applications on your network to the internet through the VPN, leaving NAT and UPnP completely pointless… Duh.

Why don’t you reach out to Mullvad directly? Let them clarify this for you. And share the conversation here so we can have a laugh. I’m waiting.

@Kemper
Thanks for confirming you have no idea how UPnP and NAT port mapping protocol contributes to seeding with Mullvad. Take care.

I never said you couldn’t seed. You’re imagining things. It simply doesn’t allow for direct seeding. Port forwarding is still disabled by Mullvad. You’ll still seed at the same level with UPnP turned off.

@Kemper
Mullvad’s routers use NAT port mapping protocol. That’s the tech that enables direct seeding. If you don’t understand how UPnP and NAT-PMP link together, just come out and say it. Keep having fun though.

@Teal
Show me proof you have open ports while using Mullvad. There are port checker tools for that. I’m waiting.

Feels good to block annoying people.

I don’t have any of the issues you talked about. Just a few captchas.

After some time, my speed drops… I have to switch to another server for it to get better.

I do not have any issues mentioned. Only facing some captchas.

I’ve not had any issues with them. Sorry you are dealing with problems.

I’m not having any problems on my M2 Mac

But I also have an older Intel Mac, and that keeps disconnecting all the time

No issue for me - glad to upgrade my hardware and keep using Mullvad.

What VPN are you considering that does not push Google captchas, any specific ones?

I just ran a speed test on my 900 Mbit connection and got 867Mbit so no issues for me.

Have you tried the Mullvad extension? Running a proxy might help reduce the captcha issue.

That’s odd. Are you using OpenVPN or WireGuard? WireGuard is usually faster.

I do not have any problems with it. My main complaint is the Windows app sometimes gets buggy and doesn’t work well with internet security programs.

The VPN service stops and requires you to reinstall to fix it. Restarting doesn’t help. Only reinstalling solves the issue. This only happens on one computer; it works perfectly on the others.

I’m a Mullvad user in the UK and haven’t had disconnects or other issues. Maybe it’s your ISP or your router?

You’re getting a lot of personal stories here, but it looks like no one can support their claims.

I’m having bad quality issues. The number of servers in my area has been slashed in half. Among those left, my bandwidth and ping are terrible. I used to max out my speed, but now I can barely hit 20% of that. Mobile VPN connection drops and reconnects constantly.

If there’s a plan or maintenance, communication has been lacking. I only noticed problems after my preferred server seemed to vanish.
