Trouble Connecting to Steam Even with VPN

I’m stuck in an apartment block with shared Wi-Fi (yep, it’s as annoying as it sounds), and they’ve disabled anything game-related. This makes it impossible to connect to Steam or download games.

I’ve managed to connect to the Steam store by using a VPN on IPv4 and disabling IPv6, but I still can’t download games or connect to Steam Cloud.

I tried changing the DNS, but that didn’t solve the problem.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, or what I can do to fix this frustrating situation?

I’m using Linux, if that makes a difference.

Try a different VPN server or even a different VPN service. Check your firewall settings too - it might be blocking Steam. If nothing works, consider contacting Steam support directly.

I totally get how frustrating this is. Dealing with shared Wi-Fi that blocks gaming can be really annoying. Try hooking your computer up directly to the internet with an Ethernet cable. That way, you can skip the Wi-Fi issues altogether.
