Hi everyone,
I’m trying to set up a VPN on my Asus RT-AX58U router, but I’m running into issues. Despite trying all the available protocols on the router, I’m stuck in an endless connection loop. It seems that my ISP is using DPI filters to block VPN protocols.
From what I’ve gathered, I might need to use OpenVPN over Shadowsocks, WireGuard over Xray, or WireGuard through an Xray. I’ve been successfully using Amnezia VPN with Xray on my PC and phone, but I’m unsure how to set up a similar connection on my router.
So, here are my questions:
-
Can I set up a VPN over Shadowsocks/Xray on my Asus router with the stock firmware? If so, how can I do it?
-
If it’s not possible with stock firmware, should I re-flash my router with OpenWrt, DD-WRT, or Tomato? Which one is the easiest to set up and offers the best performance?
I would really appreciate any advice or guidance you can offer. Thanks in advance!
