NordVPN blocks Instagram on iOS

Hi

I’m using NordVPN, but whenever I try to publish something on Instagram, it freezes.

It happens when I just try to peruse Instagram.

Are there any other men dealing with the same issues?

I use an iPhone 16 with all the newest upgrades.

Yes, I switched to Proton VPN to investigate whether Nord was the problem; it wasn’t. I tried many other servers, but none of them worked. It’s a cellular+vpn problem with T-Mobile. I’m not sure what changed overnight.

Yeah, I’ve run into the same issue with NordVPN on Instagram, especially when posting or refreshing the feed. It usually happens when the VPN is connected to certain servers. Try switching to a different server, preferably one that’s closer to your location. That sometimes helps with the freezing. :iphone:

Oh man, I’ve had this too! It’s like Instagram just doesn’t play nice with NordVPN on iOS sometimes. You might wanna try using the Split Tunneling feature in NordVPN. That way, you can exclude Instagram from the VPN, so it won’t be routed through the VPN while everything else still is. It worked for me.

Yeah, Instagram can be a bit picky when you’re using a VPN, especially if the IP addresses are flagged or blocked by Instagram’s system. If you’re using obfuscated servers on NordVPN, that might be causing the issue too. Switching to regular servers could fix it. :rotating_light:

This is common with Instagram and VPNs in general, not just NordVPN. Instagram might flag your VPN traffic as suspicious and throttle your connection or block certain features. Like others said, try changing servers or using Split Tunneling. Or you could disable the VPN temporarily while using IG. :man_shrugging:

Yeah, I had this issue when I was connected to some faraway servers. Once I switched to a server closer to where I actually am, things got better. Also, NordLynx protocol sometimes helps over OpenVPN. Give it a shot, and see if it fixes the freezing! :hammer_and_wrench:

Definitely try NordLynx! It’s their version of WireGuard and tends to work better with apps like Instagram. I noticed fewer issues when I switched to it, so that might be your fix. :ok_hand:

For real, I agree with the others. Instagram is super sensitive to VPNs. If you don’t wanna turn it off completely, the Split Tunneling option is your best bet. That way, IG traffic goes through your regular connection while everything else stays protected. :globe_with_meridians:
