My internet limits everything except Instagram

My internet limits everything except Instagram, which I managed to bypass using a VPN. How did it work?

Given that I am only able to access Instagram, it stands to me that all or most VPNs are restricted.

Today, I used a random VPN program with TLS protocol, and bam, everything is open and I can browse any website I want.

I tried various VPNs using the TLS protocol, but all failed.

I’m satisfied now, but if the VPN goes down, I’ll go back to level 1. I need to know precisely how it worked so I can easily discover VPNs that function the same way.

Any guesses, please? I have a basic understanding of how VPNs function, but I still lack information.

You simply got lucky; nothing else. In general, all VPNs work the same way; you just got lucky and chose one that didn’t already have its IP restricted. Who is preventing your internet access?

How, though? I believe it works by banning all domains and IPs except Instagram. By whitelisting Instagram and issuing a command to ban any IP addresses that aren’t Instagram

I get that they are banning everything but Instagram, but who is blocking it?

The firm where I work limits everything for its staff.

If you try to avoid the IT department’s limits, you’ll most likely get into a battle. Also, make careful to pick a VPN that you trust, as the VPN provider has the ability to read all of your network traffic if necessary.

VPNs function by routing all of your network data to their servers, which then redirect all of your network data to the destination server, so hiding your IP address and, in most cases, your network traffic from your internet service provider and others.

No concerns, it’s a large corporation with well-encrypted traffic and alternate IP + DNS.

I was simply curious about how that worked; perhaps they were lucky and just opened a few IPs, like Instagram and that VPN, as you said, but I’m also wondering if there’s another reason for it.

It appears unlikely for the corporation to open that VPN because millions of websites are prohibited and no one website is opened.

I’m very sure they don’t ban all IP addresses, just those that are often used.
