Hi people, as the title suggests, I would want to purchase a Virtual Private Network (VPN) as I play video games on 5g and a VPN lets me switch my NAT type. I call this “safety reason” gibberish, but my account is blocked if I try to access my school’s website via a VPN.
Is it possible to prevent the VPN from accessing the website of my school? I am not interested in speaking with the school technician again.
You may instruct your VPN to use your regular IP address or to disable protection while visiting specific websites. I’m not an expert, so use it at your own peril, but that’s essentially how it operates.
To whitelist all school websites and domains, apply split tunneling; the remaining VPN can be used. Or make use of the stealth technology that more expensive VPNs offer.
Schools don’t mess around (well, some do, depending on where you are), so don’t do it or you will get banned or in problems. You acknowledge that you don’t know enough about how to put it up securely and correctly to guarantee that the institution won’t find out.
Sadly, you are a visitor at that university, and using the internet that it provides is not something you should do at your age or level of dependence on it. Any attempt to break the restrictions might have unfavorable effects.
What does “ban your account” actually mean now? Feel free to try if you can just create a new one quickly, but considering what “ban your account” actually implies, I wouldn’t suggest it’s worth the risk.
Basically, what I mean by “ban your account” is (by what the technician explained to me, because I already tried it) when the school website detects a VPN after a login, the connection is blocked and the account is temporarily banned until a technician unlocks the account, and then they have to sensitize you on why you shouldn’t use a VPN
Every time you visit a school website, you have the option to disable the VPN. It won’t be noticeable while it’s off; visiting certain websites won’t become problematic until you’re actively utilizing the VPN.
