Google Play Store now detects VPNs and no longer allows for country changes

I’ve been seeing for the past two weeks or so that Google appears to have identified the usage of VPNs on the Google Play Store and that it no longer changes the country.

Does this mean I have to create a new Google account in order to use the US Play Store?

Wait, what?! Google Play Store is detecting VPNs now? :flushed: That’s wild! I’ve been switching countries for ages with no problem. Maybe they’ve finally cracked down.

This has, as far as I can remember, been the case for years.

As far as I’m aware, you can only alter your address once a year.

Two weeks ago, I was able to download many applications from the US, UK, Australia, and Singapore (all of which were streaming) simply by using a VPN to access the Play Store.

It’s now glued to my home nation since two weeks ago. I can still download new applications from my Samsung phone and Google TV, but previously downloaded apps no longer update automatically.

Yeah, bro, same here. I tried jumping to the US Play Store last week, but no dice. They definitely know when you’re using a VPN now :triumph:. I don’t think making a new account will work either. You might just get flagged again.

I’ve never found that to work. Whoa!

Yo, I don’t get the fuss. Can’t you just use another app store or side-load APKs? :eyes: Google can’t block everything! There’s always a way around, right?

Not so fast, bro. :joy: Sideloading APKs is cool and all, but some apps won’t work properly or update unless you’re in the right store region. It’s not just about downloading—sometimes you need the full app environment, and Google’s been tightening the screws.
