@Sal
I would definitely recommend Proton as well. They’re established, based in Switzerland (not part of 14 eyes) and make a mail service. The only downside I ever had was a bit of trouble with customer service.
NordVPN has no 24/7 phone help. I had issues after after a year. I couldn’t connect my iPad. They gave me so many technical requests and I couldn’t do it over print; I needed someone to talk me through. They kept the balance of the second year. I just left.
Go Windscribe…

And this article is sponsored by NordVPN …in case it was not clear from the get-go
I will avoid NordVPN because they don’t seem right. That’s all. It’s solely based on gut feeling.

I believe I heard their name pop up recently because they were retaining personal data that they claimed they did not. Like I said, if it’s free, it’s not free, it will cost you yourself. If you see trillions of adverts about how badly you need ‘Disney+/insert BS here,’ then I guarantee you don’t need it, they need your money. Just like a church/cult, it’s that simple.
Nothing good in life is free.
Everything worthwhile in life costs you your hard work.
OVPN has been the best I’ve used thus far.

Their pricing is double that of Mullvad though.
I really hate that if you buy monthly, they charge you double.
Mullvad has one fixed monthly price that’s reasonable; that’s it.
ProtonVPN is good for now.
How is Surfshark? Anyone using them?
Windscribe and Mullvad would be the best VPNs according to Reddit users. If you want to know about other VPN services then I would prefer you check the list and compare the best VPN services along with their features.
Best VPN is to build a server on your own home using Raspberry Pi 4 hardware.

How do you build one?
Try Mozilla Private Mode. It’s pretty good.
Has anyone used Mozilla’s VPN? Thought about it?

It uses Mullvad servers; they’re in partnership.

So would it be better to just use Mullvad? Mullvad is 5 euros or roughly 5 USD per month across the board. Mozilla charges 9.99/month or 5/month for a year.
If you are torrenting - Just go for something with top speed and not US-based or countries that don’t have to log files. Don’t go creating a VPN to torrent because you are still using your WAN IP, or if you use a VPS, they will notify you.
If you want to stream different countries, Netflix, Disney Plus, or any other US-based streaming service, I recommend NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or Surfshark. There could be more that work, but these are the 3 I know for sure. I tested a lot of them out, and a lot of IPs from these companies get blocked by these streaming services. For example, some of PIA’s servers were blocked from streaming while others were not.
If you are worried about privacy, just create your own from your home network or a VPS.
@Wes
Aw man, I use PIA VPN… what do you mean getting blocked by streaming services? As in you couldn’t watch it or they didn’t count you as a stream? Kind of confused.
I’ve used a bunch of them:
CyberGhost - Always had speed problems with this, even in the paid tiers.
NordVPN - They failed a DNS leak test once. That was enough for me to quit.
PIA - US jurisdiction makes it an issue.
ExpressVPN - If you want speeds and security, this is it. Definitely the VPN that provides the fastest speeds.
ProtonVPN - This is the one I use. It’s supposed to be more secure according to people smarter than me. Their UI needs some work, but it’s pretty good overall. I use their email as well.
TunnelBear - used it for a trial. Wasn’t fast enough, so had to take responsibility for killing their bear.
If you want the maximum possible speeds, go with Express. Otherwise, Proton.
