What is The Best VPN?

I’ve been trying to figure out what the best VPN is, and after looking into several options, I’m still unsure which one stands out. There are so many choices, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, and it’s hard to know which one to pick.

NordVPN is one of those VPNs everyone seems to rave about, and I can see why. It’s known for being super fast and having solid security, and it feels pretty reliable when you’re streaming or trying to keep your data private. But, honestly, the higher price tag can make you wonder if it’s really worth it, especially when there are more affordable options out there.

Surfshark has a lot of fans, mostly because it’s budget-friendly but still performs well. The fact that you can connect as many devices as you want is a big win, especially if you’re always juggling different gadgets or have a family that wants in on it too. The only catch? Some people say it’s a bit slower compared to NordVPN, which might be a dealbreaker if speed is everything for you.

ProtonVPN feels like a go-to for anyone who’s super serious about privacy. Created by the same team that made ProtonMail, it gives off that vibe of being extra secure and trustworthy. The free plan is nice if you’re just dipping your toes into VPNs, but honestly, it can feel limited, and the paid version might not be the best for streaming if speed is a big deal for you.

PIA (Private Internet Access) is kind of a mixed bag. It’s fantastic if you’re into torrenting or want to fine-tune your security settings, and the number of servers it has is impressive. But, I have to admit, the interface can feel a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re not super tech-savvy. It’s affordable, though, which makes it appealing if you’re looking to save some money.

Overall, I’m trying to balance speed, security, ease of use, and cost. If anyone has experience with these VPNs or has other recommendations, I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you think is the best VPN? Thanks for the help!

I’ve tested over 6 different VPN providers till I stuck with Surfshark. I came to the conclusion that this was the best and cheapest option out there. Apps work flawlessly on all my iOS devices; no issues accessing streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+

I just renewed my subscription because of Christmas. Make sure to get the Christmas deal directly through here: link

Stay away from ExpressVPN. I liked it a lot until KAPE took over their company. KAPE has a history with malware, and I’m unsure about what they’ll do with ExpressVPN. That’s why I decided to switch to NordVPN.

I just renewed my NordVPN subscription; it’s almost Christmas. Best time of year to get them on a huge discount. Get direct access to the discount before it expires: link

I guess NordVPN and Surfshark are some big names.

I used ProtonVPN for a couple of years. It worked fine, but I switched to Surfshark because they seem more focused on privacy and security. I now use their full suite of products, and they recently announced a price drop for the VPN alone.

I tried NordVPN; it was complete junk. Refunded it within 48hrs of my purchase. Avoid avoid avoid.

Yeah, I had a similar experience a year ago. Had great reviews, but when I used it, it was kind of disappointing.

@Hux
I’m with them; what was wrong about them?

Conversely, I’ve been using Nord for over a year with absolutely no issues, and it has served every purpose I required of it and more!

@Zhi
Same - using them and no issues atm.

@Zhi
I’ve been using Nord for 4 years. It’s on my phone, iPad, laptop and TV. I’ve never had an outage or any kind of problem. It just works.

Well, you can’t say NordVPN is junk without explaining why. I’ve been using it for years, and it’s hands down the best VPN out of all the ones I’ve ever tried.

@Marlon
I had several problems for my use case. Torrenting content was not friendly with the VPN.

Have you tried Astrill VPN? I used it years ago; it was good, but it’s become expensive. There’s a Black Friday sale at the moment, so it might be worth checking out.

Whatever is free, they’re all kind of BS. I just use Opera when I want a free VPN.

Never looked into it. So is this as good as paid ones? And what’s speed like on them?

Say a bit more, I am also interested.

ProtonVPN allows free use, so if you’re using it to protect your own IP, I’d use that because it will apply to any connection on your PC.

Caveats: you can’t torrent nor port forward.

I use ExpressVPN and am very pleased with it. Yes, it costs a bit each month, but it’s well worth it in my opinion. I did try Surfshark at one point because it was cheaper, but I was disappointed with it in comparison, so I went back to ExpressVPN.
