Weird Nord version

I was looking at nordvpn today and i noticed it says it was installed 10/11/2024 which is weird. But also the version is 7.29.3.0 it’s on a windows 10 machine. Can anyone help explain that.

That sounds kinda sus, not gonna lie. Are you sure you downloaded NordVPN from the official website? Some sketchy versions float around on random sites. Might wanna run a malware scan just in case.

Yeah, sounds fishy. A VPN app installing without you knowing? :flushed: And the weird date doesn’t help. Could it have been some bloatware preinstalled on your system?

Nah, bro, 10/11/2024 sounds off—especially since we’re still in October. :male_detective: Could just be a system clock glitch, though. I’ve seen Windows mess up install dates before.

Windows is weird with dates sometimes, especially after updates. But that version number looks accurate—I think Nord rolled out 7.29 recently. Maybe it’s just a recent update triggering that date?

Might be Windows thinking it’s a new install after the VPN updated itself. That happens to me a lot with apps, lol. Windows treats it like a fresh install every time they push a patch.

Okay, but if it’s not bloatware or an update, why didn’t you notice it before today? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: It sounds like someone else might’ve installed it without telling you. Shared PC or something?

Good point. If you’re sharing the machine, maybe someone installed it recently and you just didn’t notice? Either way, check the source. You don’t wanna get pranked by a sketchy version. :skull:

If you’re still nervous, maybe uninstall and reinstall it fresh from the official NordVPN site. Just to be sure nothing funky is going on. Better safe than sorry, right?

Tbh, I’d just chalk it up to Windows being Windows unless you see other weird stuff—like performance issues or random pop-ups. But def scan for malware just in case.

Yeah, worst case: reinstall Nord, scan your system, and call it a day. I’ve had Nord update and show weird behavior on Windows too—nothing to freak out over unless other stuff starts acting weird.
