Using with a television?

Hi… My UK ISP is banning an IPTV app that is loaded on my Samsung TV.

I also have an Android box with an IPTV app, which the ISP has also banned.

The Android box is not installing NordVPN due to technical reasons. So I’m attempting to find out how to utilize it with my Samsung TV.

I considered installing a VPN on my MacBook and then sharing the connection with the TV. However, I consider this as impractical because it requires the laptop to be turned on at all times.

Is there another approach you would recommend?

You might want to see if your router can use an OpenVPN client. If it can, check the “maximum OpenVPN speed” that it supports. Many routers struggle with encryption at higher speeds.

Unfortunately, my router doesn’t support that.

When you say Android Box, are you referring to those inexpensive Chinese AOSP boxes or an actual Android TV box (like the Google Streamer)? I use Nord’s Android TV app on multiple Android TV boxes, and it works great and allows split tunneling, etc.

I have NordVPN installed on my SONY Bravia TV. The TV runs on Android TV, and it works perfectly.

I have the Chinese one. I was considering getting an Amazon Fire Stick, but I’m unsure how to “broadcast” the VPN connection to my TV.

I’m confused about why you want to do that. Just get a cheap Onn box (they run Android/Google TV). You can run the Nord app on it and use your IPTV app there. There’s no need to “share” the VPN connection with the TV itself.

Also, I’d recommend getting rid of that Chinese box; it’s likely sending your data back to China.
