Tether VPN connection from Andorid?

How can I set up a VPN connection from an Android device?
Right now, it shares the primary connection whether I’m connected to a VPN or not.

If you wanna tether a VPN connection from your Android device, you’ll need to dig a bit deeper into the settings because Android by default only shares the main, unencrypted connection. It doesn’t automatically share the VPN. One way to do it is by using third-party apps like PdaNet+, but I think it needs root access for proper VPN tethering.

Yeah, Android doesn’t make this easy. You’re right, if you just tether the normal way, it’s gonna share the un-VPNed connection. You can try using VPN Hotspot (an app from the Play Store), which lets you share your VPN connection via WiFi or USB tethering. No root required! :fire:

I’ve used VPN Hotspot and can confirm it works well! Just download it, and once you’re connected to your VPN, it’ll allow you to share the VPN connection with your other devices. No rooting needed, and it’s pretty simple to set up. :rocket:

But if you’re okay with a bit more tweaking, rooting your phone might give you more control over the tethered VPN connection. You can also try setting up a manual hotspot through ADB or other developer tools, but that’s more technical. If you’re not into rooting, User 3’s suggestion works without that hassle.

Rooting is definitely an option, but VPN Hotspot is much easier for most people. If you don’t wanna deal with the technical stuff, just stick to that. I’ve been using it for a while, and it works great for gaming and streaming through a VPN connection when tethered. :video_game:
