Starlink Issues need help

So I purchased a Starlink kit and put it up; thus far, so good. But when I try to connect to iVPN, nothing happens—just the “connecting to” message, and my status stays unconnected. I checked multiple servers to ensure there wasn’t a problem with one.

Does anyone have any recommendations for how I might make this work?

Ah man, Starlink’s a whole new world when it comes to VPNs. Since it’s satellite-based, the latency might be messing with the connection. I’ve heard VPNs can struggle with Starlink’s network because of the high ping times. Maybe try switching protocols in iVPN—like, if you’re using WireGuard, give OpenVPN a shot or vice versa.

Yeah, Starlink + VPNs = not always the smoothest combo. :weary: Like User 1 said, latency is probably killing the connection. I’ve had better luck using IKEv2 on Starlink, so maybe try that? It’s faster for some people in this kind of setup.

Starlink’s a beast when it comes to speed, but the whole satellite thing adds complexity. It could also be that Starlink’s NAT system is messing with your VPN connection. You might be behind CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT), which can make some VPNs act up. You could try reaching out to iVPN support—they might have a workaround. :eyes:

Yo, I’ve heard about this! Starlink users sometimes face issues with VPNs because of the way their IPs are distributed. It’s not just latency—it’s the whole NAT structure like User 3 mentioned. Some VPNs are more sensitive to this than others. You could try connecting to a different server region or lowering the encryption level. It sucks, but might help! :grimacing:

I had a similar problem with Starlink and ExpressVPN. Changing from UDP to TCP mode helped me out. It’s slower, but at least it connects! Try that if iVPN gives you the option. Also, I read somewhere that restarting the Starlink dish can fix some weird network issues. Give that a go too, maybe. :crossed_fingers:

Ooh, that’s a good point about UDP vs. TCP! Switching protocols can definitely make a difference. UDP is faster but less reliable on satellite, while TCP is slower but can handle the sketchy connection better. Starlink’s fast, but it ain’t perfect, ya know? :joy:

For sure, satellite internet’s always gonna have a few quirks. Try the TCP trick and see if it works. Also, keep in mind that Starlink is still kinda new, so they might still be ironing out the kinks with VPNs and stuff. Hopefully, updates in the future will make it smoother.
