Port forward. A versus B

Hi everyone.

VPN A: fixes the port each time I log in or change locations.
VPN B: changes the port every time I log in or change locations.

From a security and convenience perspective, which option is better? And why?

It’s possible that VPN B is safer because it changes ports, making it harder for potential threats to target you. On the other hand, VPN A is more convenient since you won’t need to adjust the port settings every time. It really depends on whether you prioritize security or ease of use.

Makes sense. Thank you!

Fixed ports are convenient but not the best choice for a large VPN provider since so many users are on the same ports. It’s not really a security concern unless you’re running vulnerable software on that device. If you use Quantum on GitHub, you can automatically set ports in qBittorrent, which could help with flexibility.

If you’re worried about targeted attacks, changing ports (VPN B) might provide an extra layer of protection. But for everyday use, the convenience of a fixed port (VPN A) can save time and reduce frustration, especially for regular tasks.

You might also want to consider the type of applications you’re using. If they require consistent port settings, VPN A might be more suitable. But if security is your main concern, then VPN B’s variability could be beneficial.

It’s worth noting that you can often set specific applications to use particular ports in your firewall settings, which could give you a balance of both convenience and security regardless of which VPN you choose.

Appreiciated thanks

I will try that, thanx
