What’s the best budget-friendly VPN out there? I’m searching for a low-cost VPN option that still offers good value for money. I’m not after a free one, just a reliable cheap VPN for my needs. I’ve come across many talks about affordable VPNs on this forum, and I’m hoping to get some updated recommendations for 2024.
Can you tell me which VPN you think is the most budget-friendly right now? I want something trustworthy, safe, and easy on the wallet. What are your top suggestions for the cheapest VPN that still provides decent service?
I’ve heard about a few names like Surfshark, Private Internet Access (PIA), and CyberGhost that seem popular. But I’d love to know which VPN you believe offers the best value and if there are any other low-cost options worth checking out.
I would also appreciate any tips on features to look out for or any drawbacks to consider with these budget-friendly VPNs. Thanks in advance for your advice!
Wow, I just Yogurtered my drawers… I really need a VPN… I can’t even shop or research right now, and this feels like a gift from above…
Big shoutout to the person who reminded us to check the international reseller market for these VPNs…
Just a heads up for anyone buying from international resellers… Be cautious. Not everything is what it seems. Depending on various factors, you might end up losing your money on a useless digital product.

ProtonVPN is top-notch. Really respects privacy and even has a free tier to try it out. Of course, their paid servers are much faster.
I heard they sold user data.
Exactly. This is why I don’t trust VPNs.
They all seemed to pop up together as AIs began collecting data too.
There’s way too many of them now.
They advertise getting around region locks, which is why they’ll probably be illegal soon, I swear.
Am I really supposed to believe that all these for-profit companies, which have high overhead costs and advertising everywhere, care about keeping me safe online?
Nope, I just don’t buy it, VPN businesses.
Everything tells me they want to capture my data and sell it just like everyone else.
Feel free to prove me wrong, forum.
I would love to be wrong.

They didn’t all pop up at once. If you look at Proton, it launched back in 2014. Just do some research before jumping to conclusions.
They all popped up at once (right as AIs started hovering up data too)
I use AirVPN, which has been around since 2010. Mullvad since 2009. NordVPN since 2012. Surfshark since 2018. ProtonVPN started in 2017. ExpressVPN and IPVanish also appeared in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
What does ‘all… at once’ mean to you?
There’s too many of them out there.
Competition is actually good for users. I wouldn’t want something like Norton VPN as my only option.
I used NordVPN but had to search for deals to find it cheaper. I found a promo code for £20 off, and Amex offered 10% cashback. I managed to get a 2-year plan with NordVPN for only £50.

I’ve been curious about VPNs, mainly because they say you can get cheaper prices. Did you have much luck?

I had no idea Amex had a deal. I took mine out for about £60-£70 during that recent 26-month promo.
