Do any VPNs even connect from Antarctica? I thought there were no servers there. It would be pretty funny if someone was actually streaming stuff out there.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Never knew of a VPN service giving connections there. That person must really enjoy something like Strike Witches.
@Harlan
I hear you, but think about it… There might be more servers in Antarctica than people.
@Harlan
Windscribe VPN says it offers Antarctica as an option.

That’s just beautiful to think about.

Yeah but it’s actually located in Toronto, so that’s not quite right.
@Harlan
Yeah that fits with how scientists think.

There have to be some servers there. Places like McMurdo and South Pole Station need internet for everyone there, not just researchers. Plus, some other countries have their research stations too.
@Dai
I talked to some cooks who worked at McMurdo. They might be who we’d expect if someone is connecting from Antarctica. A line cook is still a line cook, even there.

Nope, I haven’t. But I watched ‘Antarctica: A Year on Ice’ on Amazon Prime.

That blog is awesome. It was written by a guy who did IT in Antarctica.

Wow, just read all those articles. This guy writes really well, and it’s interesting to see what life in Antarctica is like.

In theory, it makes sense to not stream because they likely don’t have much bandwidth. If I was a researcher there, I’d probably bring a bunch of hard drives and a mini PC for streaming my favorite shows.

Windscribe has a fake Antarctica option, but I don’t know how that works.
@Dru
They could have a server there, it would be good for cooling.
