I was enticed into purchasing a lifetime subscription to this VPN—it seemed like a great deal at first. However, I’ve quickly realized that it was a mistake.
Despite its sleek appearance, the Windows app doesn’t deliver on most of its advertised features. Split-tunneling, for instance, simply doesn’t work for me. More often than not, the app claims it’s connected to a server, but it turns out it isn’t.
Initially, I assumed these issues were just bugs in the VPN app. But things got worse when I installed their extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Although they all claim I’m connected to a server, my IP address remains unchanged, showing the one assigned by my ISP. The extensions are utterly useless.
I then made the mistake of purchasing a dedicated IP from them. While it technically works, the speeds are abysmal, barely reaching 1mbit up and down—completely unusable.
Reaching out to their support is another ordeal. The only option is through their ‘chat,’ which is a frustrating experience. I’m either dealing with bots or support agents who have very little IT knowledge.
I’m now on day three, still waiting for a resolution to my slow speed issue. At this point, I doubt I’ll ever hear back from them.
I’ve never tried it, but the name alone is off-putting. If you’re “connected” but nothing seems to be happening, that’s a red flag. Remember, this service could potentially monitor all your traffic and data while you’re connected. Lifetime subscriptions, in general, tend to be a bit sketchy.
I’ve had an account for years, but many of the VPN locations have never worked properly. Even for the ones that do, the speeds aren’t great. It’s become the kind of account I rarely use, often just letting others borrow access when they need a VPN.
I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a scam—it does work for most locations—but it’s far from impressive. I’ve tried several lifetime deals, and they’ve all been pretty disappointing. The best of the bunch has been BulletVPN, but their Android app is terrible. If you manage to get it to work, the speeds are decent.
Surprisingly, my go-to for an affordable VPN has been NordVPN. While it’s quite expensive if purchased directly, a few times a year, there are deals on Slickdeals where they bundle things like Microsoft 365 with free NordVPN. Users often trade the Nord codes for extra months of Microsoft 365. The last time I renewed, it cost me $35, and I traded my Microsoft code with a Slickdeals user for an additional year of NordVPN.
It’s terrible. I tried it, and it frequently dropped connections or slowed down drastically, even with basic web browsing. Honestly, I’ve tried a lot of the lifetime subscription VPNs, and they all suck. Back in the day, you could get Windscribe for a lifetime subscription, but those deals are long gone—I wish I had snagged one. The lifetime VPNs available now are so bad that you’d probably cancel them after a month if you were paying for them.
