Lol, I’m glad I live in a place where they mainly just block popular torrent sites, which you can still get to with unblockers.

Is that Russia? Sounds pretty similar…

Nah, it’s Italy
@Arlo
This post made me a bit worried since I don’t use a VPN (internet slows down a lot) but… thanks for easing my worries

I don’t use a VPN either, I prefer a seedbox which works pretty well.
@Reed
Seedbox?

Seedbox?
It’s a server that runs a torrent client to download and share files from a different country. So I let it download there and get the content through SFTP. This way, my ISP doesn’t know I’m torrenting and can’t do anything about it.
@Reed
Mmm, never heard of those, thanks
@Reed
Can you give some examples?
What seedbox do you use and how do you get the content via SFTP?

It’s just a paid server that runs elsewhere where you can download the torrents. SFTP is how you connect to the server to download the files after they’re done.

@Arlo
Russia tends to block a lot, even before recent events it was blocking even more. It’s super easy to bypass those blocks. Even before a ton of free VPNs became popular, mirror sites were common and easy to access.
So I can relate to Italy’s attempts to control internet access.
@Willow
To bypass Italy’s blocks, just change your DNS to something other than what your ISP provides.

I guess that’s not tough to do. I’ve never tried it, so I’m not sure.
@Willow
Yep, it’s super easy and takes about a minute
@Arlo
Same in Spain, it’s wild.
