First of all, I would appreciate it if someone could explain how to use Excluded IP addresses in Proton VPN.
Secondly, before subscribing to Proton VPN, I was using Surfshark, which had a feature allowing me to enter a website address to turn off the VPN when visiting that site—like google.com. It was straightforward!
However, it seems Proton is different. Is this feature available in Proton? If yes, how can I use it? If not, I would appreciate it if you could consider adding it.
Hi! You can exclude websites instead of IPs if you use the Proton VPN browser extension. In the client, you can exclude apps and IPs. Check out more information here: Proton VPN Split Tunneling.
You may be looking for a function called split tunneling, which allows you to bypass the VPN for certain websites. Split tunneling is available with ProtonVPN, but it might not work exactly like Surfshark. To block traffic, you’ll probably need to use IP addresses instead of website URLs.
As mentioned, split tunneling is likely what you’re looking for. Just go to the website you want to add to the exception list in your browser. The site should auto-fill in that box; you just need to hit the + to add it.
ProtonVPN doesn’t have a straightforward way to block IP addresses like Surfshark does. You might want to explore Proton’s settings or contact their customer service to see if this feature can be added or modified.
If you want to ensure that specific sites are excluded from the VPN, you might need to add those sites in the extension’s settings. It might take a bit of setup, but it’s worth it for the flexibility.
Consider checking Proton’s support forums for any updates on features like split tunneling or excluded IPs. Sometimes, they roll out new features based on user feedback.
