How can I know whether AntiTracker is working properly on iOS?
Open any website with a large number of advertisements or download a free game that frequently displays advertisements. If you don’t see any adverts, that means everything is set up correctly.
I don’t think AntiTracker can prevent ads; that is what browser content filters like AdGuard do. I am curious whether there is a method to determine whether IVPN has blocked a tracker on a website.
I can promise you that it blocks many advertising, but its primary role is to stop trackers, therefore it cannot prevent any pre-rolled in-line first-party ads like YouTube, or possibly a new ad-tracker that the blocklist maintainers AntiTracker employ has not yet put to their block list.
How can you check this for yourself? The simplest solution would be to do what the first commenter said, or to download the NextDNS app/set up a NextDNS ID configuration profile for your Apple device and monitor the log queues to see what the same Blocklist IVPN is doing in real time.
ok I’ll try this way.
If you use NextDNS, you may also utilize IVPN with your own custom DNS profile. That is what I do, and due to my NextDNS configuration, advertisements and trackers are blocked. Even in-app advertisements are being prevented, which is extremely great.
Right. I forgot to include the custom DNS feature, which enables the usage of both providers within the IVPN software.
That’s what I used to do, however I heard somewhere that using a custom DNS is not secure. What is private DNS, and should you use it with a VPN? | Proton
I’d argue it’s not encouraged, if you 1. don’t know what you’re doing and 2. don’t have a clear need for it. 3. want to reduce the number of parties you have to trust.
