Security is NOT the purpose of a VPN. All it does is prevent your traffic from being seen by one service provider, but it allows your VPN provider to see it. In addition, it adds more hops to the network path. The data must first be transmitted to the VPN endpoint and then to you across the connection. rather than speaking to you personally.
