Can't Establish Connection with eduroam on macOS –

Hey everyone,

I’m having a frustrating issue with connecting to eduroam at my university on macOS. When I uninstall NordVPN, everything works fine, but as soon as I reinstall it, my Wi-Fi stops working.

I’ve tried a lot of things: obfuscated servers, setting custom DNS to 1.1.1.1, and while that sometimes helps, it still decides to act up now and then. Sometimes I can connect without issues, and other times, it just won’t work, forcing me to restart my Mac.

I thought it might be related to the threat protection feature, but even after a fresh reinstall of Nord without that setup, I still get the “Can’t establish connection” error.

The weird thing is, everything works perfectly on my iPhone and iPad (yes, I’m all in on the Apple ecosystem!).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked if NordVPN has specific settings for eduroam? Sometimes universities have special configurations.

Have you tried adjusting the VPN settings? Maybe toggling between UDP and TCP could help!

That’s odd! If it works on your iPhone and iPad, maybe your Mac is just jealous of their seamless connections. Try resetting your network settings on your Mac!

Great idea, Greg! Also, make sure your macOS is up to date. Sometimes a simple update can fix those annoying bugs!

It’s like your Mac is saying, “I’ll connect when I feel like it!” :joy: Have you tried manually configuring the eduroam settings? Sometimes it helps to go old school!

’d recommend disabling any conflicting network protocols in Nord’s settings. Sometimes they just need a little nudge to behave!

And if you’re still stuck, reaching out to your university’s IT support might be a good idea. They might have dealt with similar issues before!

Or maybe just give your Mac a pep talk: “You can do this! Just connect already!” Sometimes they just need some encouragement!
