You can run your own VPN on a VPS, and nobody else will ever know. However, websites and application servers can still detect that the IP is associated with a data center; if this worries you, host the server at home.

IVPN, or Ry Mullvad. Both emphasize transparency in policy, no logs, and privacy. These are less well-known but nonetheless good options if you prefer obscurity over well-known features.
